The moon and the sun, night and day working together can generate life. As a perfect symbol the cetonia aurata, associated with resurrection and rebirth, a winged being connected to both the terrestrial and celestial spheres. The eclipse, which gives the work its name, is the otherwise impossible union of light and shadow.
